So after a three-month hiatus, I've decided to bring this blog back to life!! I am now 28 weeks pregnant and I thought that regularly blogging about fitness again will help to keep me motivated for these last 12 weeks before delivery. I am amazed at how fast this pregnancy is flying by!!28 weeks down...12 to go
(Please excuse my awkward right hand in this photo...I can never quite figure out where to place it!!)
I do have to admit something kind of embarrasing though...I think I need to invest in some bladder protection pads here pretty soon!! I've never been able to run this far into pregnancy before (with both of my other two pregnancies, I've always had to stop right around 20 weeks or so because it was just too uncomfortable.) I'm happy to say that at almost 7 months I am still running but my bladder is quite compromised with the extra baby weight pressing down on it. This is especially true when I run. I came off the treadmill today pretty sweaty and admittedly a bit leaky too. Anybody else have this problem? Please tell me I'm not the only one with terrible bladder control these days!!

(Disclaimer: "Running" is a pretty relative term these days. I am definitely slower and can't go as far, but I am still out there plugging along so I will still continue to call it "running" although "jogging" or even "shuffling" may be a bit more accurate!!)
Um, yeah. I guess I'll fess up since you did. I was able to run up until a week before delivering with both Paige and Tyler (had to quit with Chloe at five months), and by that third trimester I was regularly peeing my pants during my runs. One time at around eight months with Paige, I actually called the doctor and came in to be checked because I was positive that I was leaking amniotic fluid and that the baby was going to die. Nope. Justing peeing my pants was all. Whoops! Just wear a pad and wash everything in extra hot water. It's your body's way of preparing you for all the poop, pee, and spit up that will be landing on you soon enough!
ReplyDeleteYAY!!! I am glad that you are back Dadra!! I haven't ever run to have that problem. I don't even run not being pregnant. I know it is always about priorities but right now I am not making fitness a priority. I am at least playing basketball with the guys MWF mornings, and occasionally riding my bike there to play. I have been eating way too many sweets and my face and big stomach are proof. I am trying to get better but my desire isn't there as much as it was once. I hope that one day I will be able to make a gym membership a priority so that I can go even if I have my kids. Thanks for the post. I am glad to have you back:)
ReplyDeleteGreat to have you back! I've never run enough during pregnancy (or at all) to have that problem. Good for you for sticking with it that long. Just thought I should let you know that in the months you were gone I went from not exercising to walking, to running 2-4 times a week. I improved my average mile time nearly 7 minutes during that time. All thanks in a large part to your blog. It definitely helps keep me motivated to see other people who make exercise a priority and to see how they do it. So thanks!! (No pressure--LOL!)
ReplyDeleteYou look great! And I am ecstatic to see that you have a fitness blog, my mom told me before I left for Idaho that you had become certified to become a personal trainer. Boy, I wish I was still home...I would hire you. I'm taking a military fitness class this coming semester through BYU-I and excited/terrified, but I desperately need to get back in shape and lose weight! Anyway, in a nutshell--super excited about your blog.
